 | L.B. Jeffries L.B. Jeffries, played by James Stewart, is the main character in Rear Window. He is an action photographer, who is stuck at home in a wheel chair with a broken leg due to an accident at a car race. In this movie, he is the protagonist, and wants to prove that one of his neighbors killed his wife. Jeffries is a career oriented man, seems independent, and is very stubborn. At the beginning of the movie, he would most likely choose his career over his girlfriend, but throughout the movie, L.B.’s eyes get opened, and he realized that his girlfriend is very important to him. He isn’t the type of person that will just give up on something because someone tells him to or because no one is on his side.

 | Lisa Fremont Lisa Fremont who is played by Grace Kelly, is L.B. Jeffries girlfriend. She is an independent, high fashion, social lite that seems to have everything going for her. The only thing going against her is the fact that she cares more about L.B. then he does about her. Since Jeffries is confined to his apartment, Lisa does all of his dirty work for him such as breaking into Thorwald’s apartment. Lisa will not be disrespected or taken for granted by anyone, and stands up for what she believes in. She is a little bit of a dare devil, and seems quite impulsive.

 | Lars Thorwald Lars Thorwald, played by Raymond Burr, is the antagonist in this film. After taking care of his sick, nagging wife for quite a while, Thorwald decides to kill her. He tells the superintendent of the building the she is going on a vacation by train, and later ships a trunk with what people think are her belongings, but is really her body. When Lisa breaks into his apartment, he becomes outraged and very violent. Once he discovers that he is being watched, he goes over to Jeffries apartment, and after a struggle, dangles him out of his apartment window. Thorwald seems like a grumpy old man, very violent, and has a lot of anger management issues. |
